Ultrasonic flow meters employ an ultra sound velocity-difference method (time difference method) to work out the flow velocity and volume flow rate after knowing the flight time difference of ultra sound in the fluid, and depend on the propagating time difference of the ultrasonic signal in the fluid to measure the fluid speed and volume flow. They are widely used to measure the conductive fluid volume flow in a closed pipe, like tap water, industrial water, seawater, sewage, as well as a variety of acid, alkaline and saltine solutions.
